The watch and your notes

A voice note goes from the watch to the phone it is linked to, over a wireless link that is authenticated at pairing. The watch erases a note once the phone has confirmed that it received it.

The Free plan

Your notes stay on your phone. The transcription runs there. No account is created and no note is sent to us.

The app only asks cobalt-watch.com whether there is an update for the watch, at most once every 20 hours. Our host, Hostinger, then sees the address of your connection and the time. The app sends it no name, no identifier and no note.

The Pro and Max plans

The audio and the text of your notes go to Mistral through a gateway that we host in France. The gateway keeps neither the audio nor the text: they stay in memory for the length of the call, a few seconds.

The gateway runs at Scaleway, in Paris. It passes the audio or the text to Mistral AI with our key, without your token and without the address of your phone: Mistral receives no identifier of yours.

We keep one line per call for 7 days: the time, the type of call, the identifier of your token, the result, the duration and the version of the app. Never the audio or the text.

Scaleway, for its part, keeps technical information about each call for 70 days: the IP address of your phone, the time, the duration, the size and the response code. Never the content.

On 5 October 2026 Mistral AI granted us “zero retention”: it keeps neither the audio, nor the text, nor the answer beyond the time it takes to answer. We have also switched off the use of our calls to train its models. It processes your notes in data centres of the European Union and of the EFTA.

Permissions

  • Nearby devices and companion device: to talk to the watch.
  • Notifications and foreground service: to keep listening for the watch, even with the app closed. Android then requires a permanent notification.
  • Microphone: Android requires it of any app that calls its speech recognition. The app never records with the phone’s microphone.
  • Alarms and calendar: to set a timer, an alarm, an appointment. The app only reads the list of your calendars to choose where to write, not your appointments.
  • Internet: to look for updates of the watch and, if you have switched them on, to reach the Pro and Max plans.

The app has no access to your contacts, your messages, your photos or your location.

Crash reports

The app sends none. It carries no advertising and no analytics tool.
